Tools of the Trade

Mamiya RB67..."I" don't use this camera in my photography, but as an
instructor we get to teach students how to shoot with it in studio
settings. I find it to be a very facinating camera that I would love
to use on a landscape shoot out in the middle of no where...maybe
someday I will.

Anyways, just wanted to get a blog out there today :)

Fashion Shoot

I love having a beautiful wife that I can use as a model anytime I get an idea or just want to do a shoot. These are a few of my favorites from one of those shoots...we called it 80's Big Sexy Hair.

My First Attempt at Photography

My First online photo albums...Webshots!? This was quite a suprise to me when my wife found it earlier tonight. I had just forgotten all about it I guess. These where from 4-5 years ago, when I thought I was some kind of photographer walking around with my little Sony Cybershot. This was a lot of fun finding this (I even remembered the password to the account)...I hope all my colleges get a kick out of it, and I hope all my clients don't get nervous (I've actually gotten a little better)145569290wkauKo_fs.jpg

Finding Flock

Go to fullsize image I am really wondering why I have just found & started using the Flock web browser. It is pretty amazing...if you are a social junky, a photographer, a news hound, or just plain human. It has a built in Facebook, Twitter, Blogging app (that I am using right now) and so much more). Check it out, you won't regret it.

ps it also has a Flickr app too...among many others.

Dad's ZX 14r After the Wreck

Sliding down Main St in Shawnee, Ok at 100mph is not a good way to
start the weekend, to say the least. But, on Friday at 5pm my Dad did
that very thing...without a helmet. I do not recomend this, nor does he.

He survived sliding 3/4's of a block down main st. So far we know he
has a crushed left hand, possible broken shoulder, 2 head injuries,
right swollen kidney, right arm puncture wound, & major road rash all
over (mainly his back & arms)...I will post a link to the other
pictures and video shortly.

Sissy and Ricky

This last weekends Engagement Shoot in Downtown OKC and The Paseo
Art's District.

Family Fun

Every once in a while I get the opportunity to take my wife and/or my
oldest daughter on a photo shoot with me. This last weekend they went
with me to do an engagement shoot in The Paseo Art's District in
Oklahoma City, and in Downtown OKC. We had a great time, and it was
unique quality time. My wife came along to help with the brides hair,
and my daughter is an aspiring photographer and comes along for the
free lessons.

The Hard Life

While on a photoshoot today I ran across this little guy. Seems he had
fallen from a nearby nest.
So, we used napkins to pick him up and then placed him back in his
nest. Hopefully momma bird will take him back under her wing.

Ps by the way, I used my Canon G9 for this shot.

Lighting Up the Darkroom

I am an Instructor here at the Oklahoma School of Photography in Moore, OK. This is me in our black and white darkroom...
I used a Mamiaya RB6 Medium Format Camera to compose myself with the developing trays. I used a Canon 20d on another tripod set at 100 ISO, f5.6, 25 sec.

Lovin' Light & Color

Color and lighting can make or break your photograph...in this case we
made it work.
The red draws your eyes into the main subject without having to
compete with any other colors. Meanwhile the lighting is coming in at
the right angle as to add texture to the image giving it a 3
deminsional look.
These rules are just a couple of the ones in "Composition".

Converse Bride

I'm at a wedding right now, waiting for the bride to arrive. So I
thought I would take a couple of minutes to post a new blog.

This is from a wedding I did last year of a very good friend of mine.
This wedding was a blast, and the bride's shoes were a hit. She
ordered them direct from Converse, with her new name stitched on the
sides, and made in her wedding colors.

Just a neat little idea!

Socks & Shoes

Call me strange, but I rarely wear normal socks (white) & shoes (???).
All my socks have personality and all my Converse do to. A lot like me
I guess.

Anyhow, just a reminder to bring your personality with to your
photoshoots. We'll call it BYOP, I'll bring mine and you bring yours!!

Simplicity

Not much else to say here, I will keep it simple. I really love this
shot, I guess the angle a simplicity is what I like about this one.
Sometimes keeping it simple is really best.

Brown Eyed Girl

My daughter Kelsee, she is growing up way too fast. She will be 13
this year, and she has already shown huge interest and skill in the
photography world. Here she is showing off some of those modeling
skills she learned from years of practice being my model while I went
to school and beyond.
She is starting 7th grade next year, and has enrolled with hopes of
being on the school newspaper. Stay tuned for some of her work.

$2 & 3 Minutes...The Good Ole Days

Anyone else remember these?? Photo booths the "old fashioned" way, well at least old fashioned to me. This one my wife and I found on or Honeymoon in Manitou Springs, CO...near Colorado Springs. It was a great find, so great we went back to ot 2 days later to get more pics together.

All Star

I love my Converse, I'm not sure why exactly, but I do have an idea.
They are very retro, each pair has a personality all it's own and
well, they photograph nicely. I mean, I don't think taking some pics
of some Nike Airs would absolutely appeal to the masses of the
photographic world (but I'm not saying they wouldn't either)...it's
just not my thing.

Anyhow, all my Senior's out there just remember 2 things: 1) your left
shoe 2) your right shoe... wear what makes you well, you. I'll be
looking. Enjoy these examples: Courtney, Jessica, Summer, Jesha,
April, Jennifer, Kelsee.

Under Fire

This was a fun shoot, no pun intended. Bryce was a pretty good sport
about this shot, I don't really think he thought I would do it. He
really wanted Senior pictures with his hunting gear, but finding the
right moment to pull out the shotgun in Dowtown Shawnee proved to be a
little difficult.

Needless to say we managed, and Bryce was finally rest assured that we
got the shots he wanted, so was I...the gun was unloaded.

We won!!!

Well we won!!! I mean, Chase's team won. He made it through the 2nd
round and we will play again at 1pm.

Baseball Daze...

...well, I'm in a daze this morning. We are in Dale right now, and my
son Chase is in a baseball tounament this weekend and it's cold and
damp. Soon I will feel like waking up and getting some sweet shots of
the boy playing. Until then I gotta find some coffee!

Ps. Chase is on the left and Hailey is on the right.

Big Sexy 80's Hair

80's Big Sexy Hair
Originally uploaded by Blue Box Photos
My wife Jesha, pictured here works at a salon in Harrah. Her and the other girls are always coming up with crazy fun hair. On this particular day she came home with some huge hair, which she refers to as "Big Sexy 80"s Hair"

I had no choice but to do a photo shoot with her that evening (the hair was just way too cool not to) and it really turned out great. I will be posting more shots from that shoot as soon as I get caught up with my current Senior Shoot editing.

Until next time...
